Peregraf- Shaswar Abdulwahid, the leader of the New Generation Movement, appeared before court today in a separate case from the one for which he was recently sentenced and is currently serving time in prison. The judge decided to postpone the session until November 3, 2025.
A source familiar with the proceedings told Peregraf that the latest lawsuit was filed against Abdulwahid on charges of defamation.
Abdulwahid was arrested by police at his home in Sulaymaniyah on August 12, 2025, after a former New Generation MP accused him of making threats. In that case, the court sentenced him to five months in prison on September 2.
