The Presidency of the Kurdistan Region issued a statement on Tuesday stressing its commitment to supporting the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of their state within the framework of international law and legitimacy.
The statement highlighted the importance the Kurdistan Region attaches to ongoing discussions on Palestine during the UN General Assembly and other international platforms.
“As a nation that has made many sacrifices for our freedom and rights, we respect the struggle and sacrifices of the Palestinian people for freedom. Palestine has been represented in the Kurdistan Region for many years,” the Presidency said.
Reaffirming its longstanding position, the statement stressed that war and violence will not resolve conflicts. Instead, it called for the cessation of armed actions and the establishment of coexistence, peace, and justice.
“The rights of the peoples of the region, security, dignified life, and justice for all must be guaranteed and upheld,” the statement concluded.
