PeregrafThe Iraqi Independent High Election Commission (IHEC) confirmed that ballot papers for the upcoming parliamentary elections, scheduled for November 11, are being printed under strict security standards to guarantee the integrity of the vote.

IHEC spokesperson Jumana Ghalai told Peregraf that the number of ballot papers allocated to the general electorate has reached 22,046,200, while 1,509,300 have been designated for the special elections. Additional reserve papers have also been approved to cover operational needs during the electoral phase.

According to Ghalai, the ballots include hidden security markers, specialized inks detectable only with special devices, anti-copying features, and a specially manufactured paper type containing markers similar to those used in banknotes, alongside other confidentiality measures.

She further revealed that 50% of the printing process has already been completed in the United Arab Emirates, with the remainder to follow in line with the commission’s timeline to ensure readiness ahead of election day.

The announcement comes as the commission works to reassure voters and political parties that the electoral process will be conducted transparently and securely.
