As Iraq prepares for parliamentary elections scheduled for November 11, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani is stepping up efforts to rally public participation. With his own electoral list competing in the vote, Al-Sudani has signaled his ambition to secure another term as prime minister.

During a meeting on Thursday with tribal sheikhs, community leaders, and academics from Baghdad’s Al-Karrada district, Al-Sudani stressed the importance of conscious voter turnout. He warned that “boycotting the elections is not the solution and would only serve the corrupt and those with agendas that do not serve the country.”

The Prime Minister underlined that making the right electoral choices represents “half the path” toward Iraq’s stability, security, and development, while urging Iraqis to prioritize national interests over factional divisions. He also pointed to progress on local demands in Al-Karrada and highlighted broader achievements, from attracting $100 billion in investments to strengthening security across the country.

Al-Sudani added that Iraq’s global standing has improved, with major international companies returning to invest. He also emphasized integrity in political work and pledged to focus on creating opportunities for the country’s youth, who make up 60% of the population.
