Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani reaffirmed on Thursday the government’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with major international oil companies, particularly American firms, to advance Iraq’s energy sector.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office, Al-Sudani made the remarks during a meeting with Jeff Miller, President and CEO of U.S.-based Halliburton, which specializes in oil services and energy technology.
The Prime Minister emphasized Iraq’s need for expanded cooperation in boosting production efficiency, establishing research and training centers, and supporting local industries, including the manufacturing of drilling equipment and chemicals.
Halliburton’s CEO expressed gratitude for the government’s support and voiced the company’s readiness to finalize agreements with the Ministry of Oil to develop the Bin Umar and Sindbad oil and gas fields in Basra, with a focus on gas production and employing Iraqi expertise.
