Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani today sponsored the signing of the Articles of Incorporation for the National Mobile Telecommunications Services Company, a public joint-stock company established under the government program. The company’s capital includes contributions from three entities: the State Employees’ Pension Fund, the Trade Bank of Iraq, and Al-Salam General Company of the Ministry of Communications.

During the ceremony, Prime Minister Al-Sudani praised the Ministry of Communications’ efforts and urged the completion of procedures to begin offering services, particularly the launch of advanced 5G services for all citizens.

He described the establishment of the company as a qualitative step in enhancing Iraq’s telecommunications sector, which has seen significant growth in recent years. The Prime Minister emphasized the need for the new company to compete with existing operators, providing high-quality services essential to economic activity, education, and national development.

Highlighting the novelty of this initiative, Al-Sudani noted that it is the first time three government entities have jointly established a mobile telecommunications company, and that citizens can also subscribe to contribute to its capital. He explained that the move reflects the government’s strategy to strengthen the non-oil economy while fostering a competitive environment that complements the private sector.
