The Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Health announced on Saturday that another case of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) has been confirmed, involving a 43-year-old butcher from Semel district, Duhok province who had contact with an infected animal.

According to the ministry, the patient visited the hospital with suspected symptoms of hemorrhagic fever. After undergoing diagnostic tests and treatment procedures, he is now receiving medical care under close supervision, and his condition is reported as stable.

Health authorities urged citizens to strictly follow the ministry’s guidelines. They stressed the importance of notifying veterinary teams if animals show suspicious symptoms and advised those involved in animal husbandry or handling animal products to seek immediate medical attention if they develop any signs of illness.

The ministry noted that since the beginning of this year, nine cases of CCHF have been confirmed across the Kurdistan Region. While two patients have died due to severe complications, the remaining cases have fully recovered and been discharged from hospital.

CCHF is a serious viral disease transmitted primarily through tick bites or contact with the blood and tissues of infected animals. It can lead to fatal outcomes in severe cases. The ministry underscored that early detection and preventive measures remain essential to limit the spread of the infection.
