The Iraqi Council of Ministers has decided to release the June salaries of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) employees, but under conditions.

According to Peregraf sources, Baghdad requires Erbil to hand over non-oil revenues and ensure the resumption of oil exports in line with previous agreements between the two sides.

The key condition obliges the KRG to convince international oil companies operating in the region to restart exports within 72 hours. The companies must also agree to produce oil at $16 per barrel, as set in the amended federal budget law.

Another requirement is the transfer of 120 billion dinars in non-oil revenues for June before salaries are sent. Baghdad further urged joint committees on salaries, revenues, and oil to complete their work swiftly.

The Council of Ministers emphasized that the June salary payment depends on the fulfillment of both obligations: the handover of revenues and the enforcement of oil exports.

KRG employees remain unpaid for June and July, a delay that has deeply affected households and worsened economic activity in Kurdistan’s markets.
