The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has reaffirmed its commitment to the recent oil agreement with the federal government in Baghdad, emphasizing that the region will deliver its exportable crude oil to Iraq’s State Organization for Marketing of Oil (SOMO) for export through the Turkish port of Jayhan.

In a statement, the KRG said that the amount of oil prepared for export will be officially handed over to SOMO, in line with the mutual understanding reached earlier this month between Erbil and Baghdad.

Meanwhile, the KRG Ministry of Finance has sent the payroll list for June to the Federal Ministry of Finance, affirming that the federal government is responsible for paying the salaries of KRG public sector employees for that month.

The KRG also decided that the Kurdistan Regional Government will compensate the oil companies involved in producing crude designated for local consumption in the region. Oil produced by foreign companies will be directed to SOMO for export purposes, according to the joint decision by both the Federal Council of Ministers and the Kurdistan Regional Council of Ministers.

The KRG reiterated that it continues to uphold the principles of cooperation and mutual understanding with Baghdad. It called on the federal government to pay the salaries of both June and July without delay, stressing that such payments reflect the implementation of agreements already endorsed by the cabinets of both governments.
