The four Iraqi presidencies convened Sunday night to discuss pressing national issues, with a focus on the long-standing dispute over the salaries of public employees in the Kurdistan Region.

In a statement issued following the meeting, the presidencies called on the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to implement the Federal Supreme Court’s decision as a prerequisite for the federal government to release salary payments. “The resolution of the region’s salary issue must be carried out in accordance with the constitution and the law,” the statement read.

Kurdistan Region employees have so far received only four months’ worth of salaries in 2025, and are still awaiting May payments more than three weeks into June.

The meeting also underscored the importance of supporting Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission and ensuring the timely holding of the country’s parliamentary elections scheduled for November 11, 2025.

On regional developments, the presidencies expressed strong support for the federal government in safeguarding Iraq’s sovereignty and national security.

They firmly rejected any violations of Iraq’s sovereignty or the use of its territory and airspace for attacks on neighboring countries. The presidencies condemned recent airstrikes targeting Iranian nuclear sites, labeling them a “blatant aggression” and a “dangerous escalation” that contravenes international law.

The statement called on the international community to intervene immediately to halt the conflict, prevent its expansion, and promote dialogue and de-escalation.

“The targeting of nuclear facilities in Iran poses a grave threat to regional and global peace,” the presidencies warned.
