As the Israel-Iran war entered its fifth consecutive day on Tuesday, the Iraqi Parliament issued a strong response by passing a resolution rejecting the use of Iraqi airspace for attacks against neighboring countries and expressing full solidarity with the Iranian people.

The resolution, passed in accordance with Articles 59/2 and 109 of the Iraqi Constitution, condemned what it called the “open Zionist aggression” against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“We reaffirm the solidarity of the Iraqi people with the Iranian people in the face of the ongoing Zionist aggression,” the parliament stated.

The resolution outlined four main positions:

1. Solidarity with Iran– Reiterating support for the Iranian people amid Israeli attacks.

2. Rejection of Airspace Violation– Strongly opposing the use of Iraqi airspace to carry out attacks against neighboring states.

3. Support for Government Measures– Backing the Iraqi government’s diplomatic and legal efforts to protect national sovereignty and address the “Zionist entity’s” violations.

4. Call for National Unity– Emphasizing the need for internal unity to withstand any regional or international repercussions of the escalating conflict.

The parliamentary move comes amid an ongoing escalation that began early Friday, when Israeli forces launched strikes on multiple Iranian provinces. In response, Tehran fired a barrage of missiles targeting Israeli positions, marking a significant and dangerous development in Middle Eastern tensions.
