As the missile war between Israel and Iran entered its fifth consecutive day, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a phone call to discuss the ongoing conflict and its regional implications.

According to Iranian media reports, President Barzani urged urgent international intervention to halt the escalating violence, warning of the grave risks posed to regional stability.

During the call, Foreign Minister Araghchi emphasized the need for full implementation of the Iraq–Iran security agreement to prevent hostile actors from using Iraqi territory—particularly the border areas—for destabilizing activities. He stressed that the sensitive circumstances require close coordination between the federal Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to safeguard national security and maintain regional stability.
