As the missile war between Israel and Iran entered its fourth consecutive day, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani warned that the Israeli entity is seeking to expand the regional conflict in a bid to "redraw the map of the Middle East."
Speaking on Monday during a meeting with ambassadors and diplomatic mission heads from Asian and American countries — including the envoys of Australia and Turkey — al-Sudani strongly condemned the Israeli occupation government, accusing it of ignoring international and humanitarian law and carrying out ongoing massacres since October 7, 2023.
He criticized the international community for its inaction, holding it responsible for maintaining global peace and security.
“Iraq urges the international community and the United States to fulfill their responsibilities and put an end to this aggression,” al-Sudani said, noting Iraq's active diplomatic efforts through direct contacts with global leaders and foreign ministers to advocate for a peaceful resolution and the resumption of negotiations.
Al-Sudani also expressed full solidarity with Iran, describing it as a sovereign regional power and a legitimate member of the international community. He denounced the recent Israeli aggression against Iran, calling it a direct threat to Iraq’s security, stability, and regional peace.
He reaffirmed Iraq’s rejection of any violation of its sovereignty, pointing to the government’s submission of an official complaint to international and UN bodies over recent breaches.
Concluding his remarks, al-Sudani emphasized Iran’s right to self-defense under international law and warned of dangerous consequences should Israeli provocations continue to escalate.
