The Presidency of the Kurdistan Region issued a condemnation on Friday following Israel’s large-scale military strikes against targets in Iran, warning that the attack threatens to destabilize the region and escalate an already volatile conflict.

In an official press release, the Presidency stated: "We condemn the Israeli attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran and the use of military force to resolve the conflict. These developments will complicate peace and stability in the region and pose a threat to regional and international security and stability. Confrontation and military action will make the situation worse. At this critical time, it is the duty of the international community to react quickly and urgently to prevent further escalation of the conflict.”

The condemnation came hours after Israeli warplanes launched a wave of coordinated strikes on Iranian territory, targeting military facilities and nuclear infrastructure. The attack, which Israeli officials say was a response to Iran’s recent threats and drone activity, has resulted in the deaths of several high-ranking Iranian military and nuclear officials.

Among those reportedly killed in the strikes were:

• Gen. Hossein Salami, Commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard

• Gen. Mohammed Bagheri, Chief of Staff of Iran’s armed forces

• Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, Head of the Revolutionary Guard’s missile program

• Gen. Gholamali Rashid, Senior commander in the Revolutionary Guard

• Fereidoun Abbasi, Former head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization

• Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi, Iranian nuclear scientist

This marks one of the most significant attacks on Iran since the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s and raises fears of a wider regional war. Iran responded shortly after with a barrage of drones targeting Israeli airspace, prompting Israel’s military to begin defensive intercept operations.

The Kurdistan Region Presidency called on the international community to take immediate and coordinated diplomatic action to prevent further escalation. The statement emphasized that peaceful dialogue—not force—must guide efforts to resolve longstanding tensions in the Middle East.

The situation remains fluid, with many regional and global actors closely monitoring developments.
