The Independent High Election Commission (IHEC) of Iraq announced that, despite a strong response from applicants so far, it still requires tens of thousands of workers for the upcoming election day, scheduled for November 11, 2025.
"As of yesterday, June 9, a total of 187,861 people have applied to work on election day," said Jumana al-Ghalai, the commission’s spokesperson. "However, based on international standards, we need about 250,000 employees."
The recruitment drive is open to government employees, unemployed university graduates, and high school students or higher. Applicants are required to complete an online form available through IHEC’s website and social media platforms, providing personal information and necessary documents.
In the Kurdistan Region, 15,660 applications have been submitted so far, including 6,200 in Sulaimani, 5,412 in Erbil, and 4,228 in Duhok.
IHEC confirmed that the application process will remain open until July 9, 2025, and encouraged more citizens to participate in supporting the democratic process.
