The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced that more than 540,000 data updates have been recorded at voter registration centers across Iraq since the start of the current update process.

Speaking to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), IHEC spokesperson Jumana al-Ghalai confirmed that citizens have visited 1,079 registration centers nationwide, updating data that includes newly eligible voters born in 2007, as well as individuals requesting data additions, reporting deaths, or changing their place of residence.

Al-Ghalai explained that "transfers to and from the governorates of Nineveh, Salah al-Din, Anbar, and Kirkuk are permitted, provided the voter holds a ration card issued before December 9, 2013."

The spokesperson urged all citizens to visit their local registration centers to ensure their right to vote in the upcoming elections. "Participation in the elections depends on accurate data. We call on everyone who needs to update their information to take action now," she said.

The announcement comes as political parties and coalitions intensify their preparations for Iraq’s elections, scheduled for November 11, according to the Iraqi Council of Ministers. The IHEC has reaffirmed its readiness to hold the vote as planned.

The commission also confirmed that registration remains open for political parties, coalitions, and independent candidates until May 4, amid growing political anticipation of a vote that could significantly reshape Iraq’s political landscape.
