The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has officially announced that Eid al-Fitr will begin tomorrow, marking the end of Ramadan. This decision aligns with Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and several other countries that have declared the same date for the holiday.
The moon sighting committee in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq confirmed that the crescent moon was visible in the region’s sky, signaling the conclusion of the fasting month. As a result, today is considered the last day of Ramadan.
However, the Islamic world remains divided on the date of Eid. Countries such as Iran, Indonesia, Pakistan, and India have declared that Eid will fall on Monday, following their own moon sighting traditions.
The difference in Eid dates is a recurring issue due to variations in moon sighting methodologies.
