A young man from the village of Greza in Said Sadiq district, Sulaymaniyah province, shot and killed five members of his family before taking his own life late Wednesday night, a police source told Peregraf.
The suspect, who had recently returned from Europe, reportedly had a dispute with his family, which escalated into the deadly shooting. Using a Kalashnikov rifle, he killed his father, mother, two sisters, and brother before turning the weapon on himself.
The six victims were laid to rest side by side.
The family originally consisted of nine members. With this tragedy, only two brothers and one sister remain. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
