Reporters Organization Highlights Violations Against Journalists During Special Voting

Reporters Organization for Rights and Developments (RORD) has released a report detailing violations against journalists during the special voting process for the Kurdistan parliamentary elections held yesterday. According to the RORD, a total of 19 violations were recorded against journalists from 16 media outlets, with the majority occurring in Halabja—15 violations. Additionally, three violations were reported in Erbil, and one in Duhok, while no violations were reported in Sulaymaniyah.
The organization urges security forces and government agencies to ensure the safety of journalists and to allow them to carry out their duties without obstruction during the upcoming general election.
During the special voting for the Kurdistan parliamentary elections held yesterday, voter turnout reached an impressive 97%, with 208,521 out of 215,960 registered voters casting their ballots.
Erbil reported the highest number of private voters at 89,791, with 87,513 votes cast, resulting in a 97% turnout. Sulaymaniyah had 78,661 private voters, with 76,501 ballots cast, also achieving a turnout of 97%. Duhok recorded 40,956 voters, with 40,206 ballots cast, leading to a turnout of 98%. Halabja had 952 private voters, with 917 votes cast, resulting in a turnout of 96%.
