Fuad Hussein, the Iraqi Foreign Minister, has issued a warning regarding the potential escalation of conflict in the Middle East and the risk of Iraq being drawn into a war instigated "by Israel".

During a joint press conference with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who arrived in Baghdad today, Hussein stated, "We have cautioned against the widening of the conflict, asserting that an assault on Lebanon would trigger another war. Ongoing attacks pose a threat to regional security."

The Iraqi Foreign Minister emphasized the desire to keep Iraq insulated from warfare, remarking, "The aim of the Israeli entity's threats towards Iraq is to incite the country into entering the battlefield". He added that "regrettably, should a war occur, it is imperative that Iraq and its airspace remain uninvolved; otherwise, the security of the entire region will be jeopardized, leading to armed chaos and the reorganization of ISIS and other factions."

Hussein further noted, "The authority to engage in combat does not rest solely with the Iraqi government, but with the Iraqi state encompassing all three branches of power."

In the meantime, Abbas Araghchi remarked during the news conference, "Our region is confronted with extremely perilous challenges and is in an unprecedented situation."

The Iranian Foreign Minister expressed satisfaction with the firm stance taken by the Iraqi Foreign Minister and the Iraqi government, stating that Iraq will not permit its airspace to be utilized for attacks against Iran or any other nation. He characterized this as a friendly position, which is to be expected from Iraq.
