Qubad Talabani, a member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Political Bureau and the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), asserted that the Kurdish populace is now confronted with two distinct choices, marking the end of a period in which "a party could impose itself on Kurdistan through fraudulent votes."

During the PUK's election campaign in the Sarkapkan sub-district of Raparin, Talabani emphasized that this election signifies the commencement of a new era, one focused on reforming governance and eliminating discrimination among various cities and regions.

He further stated that the Kurdish people face two alternatives: those who are content with the existing governance should support the Kurdistan Democratic Party (PDK), while those seeking change should turn to the PUK and its leader, Bafel, who possess the capability to rectify governance and drive transformation.

The sixth round of parliamentary elections is scheduled for October 20, 2024, under the supervision of the Iraqi Independent High Election Commission.

The voter registration process has been thoroughly revised for this election. The Iraqi Independent High Election Commission (IHEC) has indicated that the election procedures are designed to eliminate fraud, achieving a state of "zero" fraud potential.

In the previous parliamentary term, the last 11 seats allocated to communities were all awarded to the PDK. These have now been redistributed into five seats out of a total of 100 in parliament, organized by constituencies.

A total of 2,898,578 individuals are eligible to participate in the forthcoming Kurdistan parliamentary elections. The new term of the Kurdistan Parliament will reserve at least 30 seats for women, in addition to five quota seats designated for communities: three for Christians and two for Turkmen.

The distribution of seats in the Kurdistan Parliament among the provinces is as follows: Erbil province has 34 seats, including two for communities; Sulaymaniyah province has 38 seats, also with two for communities; Duhok province has 25 seats, which includes one for communities; and Halabja province has three seats.
