Masrour Barzani asserts that the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) stands as the sole beacon of hope for the nation. He emphasizes that only the KDP advocates for peace, prosperity, coexistence, and resilience, while other parties promote destruction with their rhetoric of "We will dismantle it, we will dismantle it, and we will halt your progress."

During an election campaign in Duhok, Masrour Barzani, who serves as the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Second Deputy President of the KDP, challenged critics by stating, "If you claim that the KDP is detrimental and must be overthrown, I pose this question: What alternative do you offer that surpasses the KDP? Present us with one of your accomplishments independent of the KDP."

He underscored the significance of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections, urging all eligible voters to participate. "Those who abstain from voting should be aware that others will cast their votes in their stead," he remarked.

Addressing a gathering of party supporters, the Second Deputy leader of the KDP declared, "The KDP faces no competition, as no other party has demonstrated the willingness to confront the challenges and bear the responsibilities that the KDP has undertaken."

Barzani noted, "Numerous parties make grand promises and espouse various slogans, yet their presence was notably absent during times of crisis. When ISIS launched its assault on Kurdistan, we stood alone in Sihela and Prde to defend our territory."

In reference to the election campaigns of rival parties and their criticisms of the KDP, Masrour Barzani remarked, without specifying any parties, "Their campaign inadvertently serves the KDP well. The more their rhetoric and actions are exposed to the public, the more favorable it is for us, as it allows the people to discern the true value of each party."

The Deputy Chairman of the KDP reiterated, "Numerous schemes and plots have been devised to undermine the Kurdistan Region," adding, "However, through the support and resilience of the Kurdish populace, we have successfully navigated the crisis."

Kurdistan parliamentary elections scheduled for October 20, 2024.

The Kurdistan Parliament consists of 100 seats and five seats are reserved for the communities. The election will be held in a four constituencies system.

The five seats are divided into three provinces, three seats in Erbil, Sulaimaniyah and Duhok for the Christian community, and two seats in Erbil and Sulaimaniyah for the Turkmen community.

The seats in parliament are divided among the provinces as follows; Erbil province has 34 seats, two of which are for communities, Sulaimaniyah province has 38 seats, two of which are for communities, Duhok province has 25 seats, including one seat for communities, and Halabja province has three seats.

The election has been postponed four times so far. Initially, Nechirvan Barzani, the President of Kurdistan Region of Iraq set October 1, 2022 for the elections, but they were not held on that date. Despite three other times that the KRI President announced for the elections (18 November 2023, 25 February 2024 and 10 June 2024), the elections were not held on those three dates.

Following the first elections on 19 May 1992, no elections for the Kurdistan Parliament have been held within the legal deadline during the three decades of the Kurdistan rule by PUK and PDK.
