The Chairman of the Iraqi Independent High Election Commission (IHEC), Judge Omar Ahmad, announced that "the Council of Commissioners has resolved to set the commencement date for the election campaign. This campaign will begin on September 25, 2024, and will continue until 12 midnight on October 15, 2024, following a conclusion at 12 pm tonight".

The IHEC has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a free and fair election process, calling on all participants to adhere to regulations and maintain a respectful, transparent atmosphere during the campaign period.

Nearly 2.9 million eligible voters in the Kurdistan Region are poised to engage in the forthcoming elections scheduled for October 20, 2024, which will determine the allocation of 100 seats in the Kurdistan Parliament.

A minimum of 30 seats in the new parliamentary term will be designated for women, while five seats are reserved for minority groups—three for Christians and two for Turkmen.
