The largest smartphone production plant in the Middle East opened in Erbil, creating jobs for local residents, including Yezidi Kurds.
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Investment Board announced that “the biggest mobile phone manufacturing factory in the Middle East has initiated production in Erbil”.
The factory is called (Infinix) and was officially inaugurated today by Mohammed Shukri, Chairman of the KRG Investment Board.
"The manufacturing facility is projected to generate a monthly output of 30,000 mobile telephones, facilitated by the expertise of specialists in technology from China," asserts the investment board.
Infinix phones are available in various types and features, with prices starting at $100.
“The manufacturing facility has established numerous employment opportunities, with 97 percent of these positions being filled by local residents, among whom are Yezidi Kurdish individuals who have endured the adversities inflicted by ISIS,” the investment board stated.
