13 Killed, Dozens Wounded as Kurdistan Region Hit by 500+ Strikes in 26 Days of Iran War
Peregraf — A sustained wave of drone and missile strikes across the Kurdistan Region of Iraq over the past 26 days has reportedly killed at least 13 individuals—including Peshmerga personnel, security officers, and foreign military staff—while leaving approximately 50 others wounded. The strikes have also resulted in material damage to civilian residences and infrastructure.
According to data compiled by the Peregraf Media Foundation, more than 500 drones and missiles have targeted various locations across the Kurdistan Region since the outbreak of the US-Israel War on Iran on February 28, 2026. These strikes have been attributed to either the Iranian military or the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a network of armed groups operating within Iraqi territory.
Casualty reports indicate the deaths of six members of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Peshmerga forces, five fighters from Iranian Kurdish opposition parties, one member of the Asayish security forces, and one French soldier stationed in the region.
On March 24, six Peshmerga fighters—identified as Rebar Abdullah, Zikri Bekhshashi, Amin Adel, Shahab Bekhshashi, Kaywan Muzaffar, and Pshtiwan Mela Musa—were killed, and 30 others wounded, during a ballistic missile attack targeting positions in the Soran district of Erbil Province.
Earlier, on March 13, Iqbal Salihi (from Saqqez) and Fakhredin Muradi (from Sanandaj)—both fighters with the Organization of Iranian Kurdistan Struggle (Khabat)—were killed in a drone strike on positions in the Bashik highlands of Erbil Province.
On March 12, Chief Warrant Officer Arnaud Frion, a French soldier deployed to Iraq, was killed when drones targeted a joint Peshmerga–French military base in the Makhmur area.
In Sulaymaniyah Province, Omid Weisi (known by the field name Omid Rwanser), a fighter with the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan, was killed in drone and missile strikes on the village of Zirgwezala on March 11.
A separate strike on March 7 in the same village resulted in the death of Ismail Rahimi (known as Hawri Ziyadri), a member of the Komala – Revolutionary Organization of Toilers of Iranian Kurdistan.
Also on March 7, Wlat Tahir, a member of the Asayish stationed at Erbil International Airport, was killed during a wave of drone attacks targeting the city.
Early in the escalation, on March 4, Jalal Rashidi, a fighter with the Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK), was killed in a missile strike targeting party bases near Degala, southeast of Erbil.
In addition to the fatalities, more than 50 individuals have been wounded, including members of Iranian Kurdish opposition groups, KRG security personnel, civilians, and French troops.
The strikes continue as the US-Israel War on Iran enters its 26th day, leading to regional concerns regarding the security of the Kurdistan Region as the conflict persists.
