Peregraf — The Kurdistan Region Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs on Saturday denied reports circulating in several media outlets and social media platforms claiming that Peshmerga forces had taken part in an attack on a headquarters belonging to the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) within the borders of Salahadin Governorate.

In a statement, the ministry described the reports as "false news" and categorically rejected allegations that Peshmerga forces were involved in any military action against PMF units or any other party.

"We categorically deny all these rumors and reports," the ministry said, stressing that the Peshmerga "are in no way a part of the military tensions and conflicts occurring in the region."

The statement emphasized that Peshmerga forces have not participated in any form of military operation related to the reported incident and remain focused on their primary mission of maintaining security and stability.

According to the ministry, the role of the Peshmerga is strictly defensive and centered on protecting the Kurdistan Region while supporting broader efforts to maintain stability in Iraq.

"The primary duty of our forces is to maintain security and stability," the statement said, adding that the Peshmerga leadership remains committed to coordination and joint cooperation with Iraqi federal security forces.

The denial comes amid heightened regional tensions and increased security concerns across Iraq as the ongoing war between US-Israel and Iran enters its third week, raising fears of spillover violence involving armed factions operating in the country.

Authorities in both Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region have repeatedly emphasized the importance of coordination between federal and regional security forces to prevent incidents that could escalate internal tensions.
