Sudani Orders Security Forces to Pursue Those Behind Projectile ‘Terrorist Attack’ on U.S. Embassy
Peregraf - Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani has ordered Iraqi military and security commanders to pursue those responsible for launching projectiles toward the Embassy of the United States in Baghdad, describing the incident as a “terrorist attack.”
In a statement issued on Saturday by the spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Sabah Al-Numan, Al-Sudani directed security and military units to identify and apprehend those involved in the attack and bring them to justice.
Al-Sudani stressed that targeting diplomatic missions and embassies operating in Iraq cannot be justified or accepted under any circumstances. He warned that such actions undermine national security and threaten the stability of the country.
The prime minister said the perpetrators of the attack are committing an offense against Iraq, its sovereignty, and its security. The statement described those responsible as rogue groups operating outside the framework of the law and emphasized that they do not represent the will of the Iraqi people.
The government also reiterated that decisions related to war and military action remain exclusively within the authority of the state, which alone embodies the national decision.
Iraqi officials have repeatedly warned armed groups against carrying out attacks that could escalate tensions and draw the country further into regional conflicts.
