Tom Barrack and Mazloum Abdi Meet in Sulaymaniyah, Focus on Syria Deal Implementation

Peregraf — Tom Barrack, special envoy of Donald Trump, and Mazloum Abdi, General Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), held a high-level meeting in Sulaymaniyah with Bafel Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.

The meeting, attended by Qubad Talabani, a senior PUK leader and Deputy Prime Minister of the KRG, centered on efforts to advance the January 29 agreement, with all sides emphasizing the urgency of removing obstacles hindering its implementation.

Discussions focused on coordination between key actors involved in Syria, particularly in areas under SDF control, as well as broader political developments.

According to a statement, participants stressed the importance of building a future Syria that respects all its communities and reflects the country’s diverse social fabric.

All sides reaffirmed their commitment to working together to support Syria’s transition into a constructive actor within the region and the wider international community.
