Peregraf- The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad said that during a meeting with Dr. Abd al-Hussein Al-Musawi, head of the Al-Nahj Alliance, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Joshua Harris reiterated Washington’s readiness to use the full range of tools to counter Iran’s destabilizing activities in Iraq.

According to the embassy, Harris stressed the importance of a strong U.S.–Iraq partnership that delivers tangible benefits for both countries, particularly in safeguarding Iraqi sovereignty, bolstering regional stability, and strengthening economic ties. He emphasized that any Iraqi government should remain fully independent and focused on advancing the national interests of all Iraqis, free from external interference.

The U.S. remarks come as Iraq faces a prolonged political deadlock over the formation of a new government. The crisis has intensified following that U.S. President Donald Trump rejected Nouri al-Maliki as the official nominee of the Shiite Coordination Framework to form a new Iraqi cabinet, further complicating negotiations among rival political blocs.
