Peregraf — Senior officials from the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS met in Riyadh on Monday, reaffirming a coordinated strategy for handling ISIS detainees and displaced families in Iraq and Syria.

The meeting, hosted by Saudi Arabia and co-chaired by U.S. Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack, brought together senior diplomatic and defense representatives from coalition member states. Officials emphasized the urgent need for the swift and secure transfer of ISIS detainees, alongside the repatriation of foreign fighters to their countries of origin.

A central topic of discussion was the dignified reintegration of families currently housed in al-Hol and Roj camps. According to a joint statement released by the United States and Saudi Arabia, coalition participants called for structured support to allow these families to return safely to their communities of origin, highlighting both humanitarian and security considerations.

The coalition stressed the importance of continued coordination with the governments of Damascus and Baghdad on the long-term planning of counter-ISIS operations. Officials noted that ongoing collaboration would be essential to sustain progress in areas recently liberated from ISIS control and to ensure stability across the region.

Participants welcomed the Syrian government as the 90th member of the coalition and expressed readiness to work closely with both Syrian and Iraqi authorities. They also acknowledged the efforts of the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Government of Iraq in maintaining security and overseeing detention facilities.

The meeting underscored a shared commitment to defeating ISIS, stabilizing liberated areas, and addressing the complex challenges of post-ISIS reintegration, signaling continued international engagement in the fight against the extremist group.
