Peregraf- The Coordination Framework held its 260th regular meeting today, Monday, January 26, 2026, to follow up on constitutional entitlements and the upcoming election of the President of the Republic. During the meeting, the Framework hosted separate delegations from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) to hear their viewpoints.
The Coordination Framework called for an agreement that would facilitate the election of the president within the constitutionally mandated timeframe, emphasizing the importance of respecting constitutional timings and resolving national entitlements.
The Iraqi parliament is expected to elect the president tomorrow. Following the election, the president will have 15 days to nominate a prime ministerial candidate—typically from the largest parliamentary bloc—who will then have 30 days to form a cabinet and present a government program for a confidence vote.
