Peregraf - The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced the successful repatriation of 97 Kurdish youths from Libya, marking the sixth convoy of citizens returned safely as part of ongoing efforts to protect the lives of Kurdistan residents attempting irregular migration abroad.

A high-level joint committee from the KRG’s Ministry of Interior and the Department of Foreign Relations, in close coordination with the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Libya, facilitated the operation. The majority of the returnees are residents of the Raparin Independent Administration. Yesterday, another 100 citizens were safely reunited with their families in the Pshdar region.

The KRG reiterated its warning against illegal migration, emphasizing the severe risks and legal consequences associated with attempting to reach Western countries through irregular routes. Many of the returnees endured harsh conditions, with some detained for up to eight months under life-threatening circumstances.

To date, a total of 299 Kurdish migrants have been repatriated. A special team from the Department of Foreign Relations remains on the ground in Libya, working to rescue remaining citizens whose lives and health continue to be at risk.
