Peregraf — An informed source told Peregraf that during its meeting today, the Iraqi Council of Ministers decided to release the October salaries for the publoc employees of the Kurdistan Region.
However, the fate of the November and December salaries remains uncertain. According to the source, Baghdad is not prepared to send the remaining two months’ salaries, while the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) says it has no available revenue and places responsibility for paying them on the federal government.
A source at the KRG’s Ministry of Finance told Peregraf that once the funds arrive from Baghdad, salary distribution will begin immediately. “As soon as the money is transferred, payments will start without delay, and all salary earners will receive their wages within a few days,” the source said.
The repeated delays in salary payments have had a negative impact on markets across the Kurdistan Region and have increasingly affected people’s living conditions, with economic pressure mounting on a monthly basis.
