Peregraf- Masoud Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), said on Saturday that he hopes an agreement with "sincere parties" after Iraq’s upcoming parliamentary elections will help "save Iraq from this ordeal."

Speaking on 1 November 2025 during a meeting with religious clerics from Duhok province, Barzani stressed that the KDP views the 11 November vote as an opportunity to demonstrate the party’s strength and defend the rights of the people of Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

"We want the nation to be free and to make its decisions freely," Barzani said, adding that elections for the KDP are "not about gaining positions, but about showing the strength and voice of the KDP to everyone."

Barzani indicated that after 2003, "we tried to build a new Iraq together. The permanent constitution of Iraq was written, and most of the problems were resolved there. We believed that if this constitution were implemented, Iraq would be saved from most of its problems, but unfortunately, that did not happen."

He added that the KDP hopes that following the 11 November elections, an agreement can be achieved with "sincere parties" to rescue Iraq from its current crisis. Barzani stated that the party has instructed its candidates to represent all Iraqis "without discrimination."
